Costa Del Golf
costa del golf

The Costa Del Sol has recently adopted the name of Costa Del Golf for obvious reasons. There are now an abundance of golf courses along this stretch of coast and all within a 20 minute drive of our apartment.

La Duquesa Golf Club - Manilva - Costa del Sol
La Duquesa golf course is an 18 hole, Par:72 course, opened to the public in 1985 and designed by Robert Trent Jones. It offers two distinctive parts. the first one, of English style, with long narrow fairways and elevated greens. Passed this half, the now wider fairways make the course easier, although one must be aware of the obstacles that protect the green, mainly the bunkers. There are excellent views from the course of the Rock and the African coast which can be clearly seen.

El Cortesin Club de Golf - Costa del Sol
The El Cortesin 18 hole Par:71 golf course is designed by Cabell Robinson. The golf course length is 7000 metres from the white tees, making El Cortesin one of the longest golf courses in Europe with a 71 par.

Doña Julia Golf - Casares - Costa del Sol
Designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido this 18 hole Par:71 course is described as having two distinct sections. The first nine holes are flatter but focusing its difficulties on lakes and trees and the second nine with its longer holes. The entire course is planted with Bermuda grass.

El Paraíso Golf Club - Estepona - Costa del Sol
Designed by Gary Player, El Paraiso opened in 1974. In general, this 18 hole Par:71 golf course could be described as misleading, because the generosity of its fairways makes it seem easy, when the fact remains that, on either side, difficult obstacles constantly appear. The Club House is situated right in the middle of the playing ground, between what used to be the green of the par four 3rd and the tee of the par three 17th holes, and affords a pretty view of the whole course.

San Roque Club - Old Course - Costa del Sol
The 18 hole Par: 72 San Roque Old Course is rated amongst the finest in Europe. The tight, sloping fairways of the golf course are lined by cork oak trees, demanding accurate driving. Strategic bunker placement and deceptive water hazards threaten all but the most precise approach shots. The greens are contoured, fast and true, rewarding well judged putts and punishing anything else. Acknowledged throughout Europe for its challenge, The Old Course provides a test for the very highest standard of golfer.

Alcaidesa Links - La Linea - Costa del Sol
Alcaidesa 18 hole golf course is a Par:72 and is one of the most original courses, not only of the Costa del Sol but of Spain, for it is designed in a traditional Scottish links style by Peter Allis and Clive Clark, and considered to be the first authentic links type course in the country. The Alcaidesa course is undulating with gentle hills and just a few metres of flat land. Reserve or book your discount golf green fees at Alcaidesa Golf Club by booking and reserving cheap tee times through Select Spain.

Sotogrande Golf Club - Sotogrande - Costa del Sol
The 18 hole Par:72 Sotogrande golf course, of which it is said its designer Robert Trent Jones feels extremely proud, is a very special course. Sotogrande is without doubt amongst the best golf courses in Spain, and since its opening in 1964, it is regularly ranked amongst the best ten golf courses in Europe. Sotogrande, although private, opens its doors to visitors, with an excellent 9 hole par 3 offer for those who do not wish to face the difficulties of an 18 hole course.

Valderrama Golf Club - Sotogrande - Costa del Sol
Valderrama is an 18 hole Par:71 Robert Trent Jones masterpiece and more than justifies its legendary reputation. The host to ten Volvo Masters events and, of course, the 1997 Ryder Cup, this is probably the best golf course in all of Europe. The course is one of Europe’s toughest challenges, only surrendered sub par scores on a handful of occasions during the many professional events played there.
